On Friday, July 27th, Planet Aid sponsored the annual Hobby Stocks car race at the Lee USA Speedway in Lee, New Hampshire. Planet Aid employees and volunteers were on hand to collect clothing, shoes, toys and books to raise funds to support development aid programs.
Patrons who made a donation received reduced admission to the event, which featured the annual 50-lap Hobby Stock Shootout. The race is part of the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series at the Speedway, one of many events taking place every Friday at the track.
The Planet Aid race saw Brian Thompson finish first overall in Car #69, with AJ Panessiti and Pete Evans giving him a run for his money with first place heat finishes. However, Planet Aid was the real winner, collecting over 3000 pounds of clothing at the event.
The Hobby Stock car race is one of many Planet Aid-sponsored and attended events used to raise awareness for our organization and the programs we support. By making our clothing donation program the focus of events such as the Lee Speedway NASCAR event, we hope to reach our goal of recycling over 100 million pounds of clothes this year.
